I live in Detroit where it is cold and snow piles high for a few months. I worked a full time job until Jan 2011 but now I work online. I am married with 2 school aged kids and a college-age kid, plus an active dog and cat. And other social commitments. I have plenty going on.

After the Belle Isle Triathlon in June 2009.

I am not champion athlete, ever, but I’ve been a casual athlete in college and as an adult life: some touch football here, some long bike rides there, some hiking, basketball, etc. When I decided I wanted to start training for tri’s, I loved bike riding and I can ride for hours–at a not-too-fast pace. I loved swimming but I could only swim maybe a lap or two. Running however–not really my favorite thing to do. But the lure of this extreme endurance sport that involved 2 activities that I really like, that was a enough to get me to start training. I’ve been working in tri training for the last 4 years with various schedules and methods. I’ve competed in a couple of triathlons in Michigan and I don’t finish anywhere near the fastest, but I finish. And in the beginning this is an awesome achievement! So to encourage others to join the fun, I share what I know here. Come on, you want to try this!

  • Competing in a triathlon is a THRILL–absolutely frightening in the beginning, exhausting by the end, but you’ll love the physical and mental work you endure to get through it.
  • Training for triathlons is a great exercise discipline and it’s fun because you are always cross-training and therefore doing something different.

You’ll be surprised how much support you’ll get! You can always contact me at tracey@triathlon-schedule.com.
